Here are things people tell you, but you don\u2019t really \u201cget\u201d until you experience it yourself:<\/p>\n\n

  1. Don\u2019t be a lawyer. You will hate your life.<\/li>\n
  2. You are probably eating more than you think. Count your calories.<\/li>\n
  3. If you worked really hard and made $1 million, you would enjoy being on the beach for about 3 weeks…then you would get bored and want to get back to work.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n

    Do you agree? Disagree? If you worked hard and earned a million bucks, what would you do?<\/p>\n\n

    It\u2019s funny, there\u2019s this cultural idea that if you made a million bucks, you\u2019d quit your job, sell everything, and travel around the world.<\/p>\n\n

    But every single millionaire I know got bored after taking some time off.<\/p>\n\n

    In short, the people dreaming about retiring to a beach are the kind who want to \u201cget\u201d a million bucks. The people who actually work for it — Top Performers — get bored after a few weeks and want to get back to work!<\/p>\n\n

    Very few people talk about the psychology of Top Performers. I\u2019m talking about Top Performers because if you are one — or you\u2019re working to become one — you have different challenges than other people. Smart People Problems<\/a> are a real thing.<\/p>\n\n

    For example, in 2010, I launched my first large course. For weeks, my team and I worked from 7am to 2am every day. It was brutally hard, and it took me months to get back to 100%<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

    But I LOVED IT. I loved every minute of working with my team, and every day tackling something new and crazy. If you\u2019d asked me, \u201cHow many hours do you work?\u201d I would have been confused with the question. You don\u2019t count how many hours you eat jellybeans for. Why would I count how long I was doing something I loved?<\/p>\n\n

    The launch also generated $600,000 in just under a week. I think that\u2019s more money than my family made in TEN YEARS when I was growing up. With that money, I could\u2019ve just dropped everything to go sit on the beach in Santorini for the next 5 years. But that\u2019s not what I wanted to do.<\/p>\n\n

    Interestingly, I didn\u2019t realize there was anything \u201cweird\u201d about this until friends and relatives started treating me strangely. They weren\u2019t happy for me — they were actually mad<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

    \u201cRamit, why are you still working so hard? Shouldn\u2019t you just be happy now?\u201d<\/p>\n\n

    I was confused. I was<\/em> happy — but I wasn\u2019t satisfied.<\/p>\n\n
