Instead, we go here:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:image --><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/growthlab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Screen-Shot-2018-04-17-at-11.35.08-AM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2018 04 17 at 11.35.08 AM\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><!-- \/wp:image --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>There are a couple of reasons\u00a0we don\u2019t come out and say \u201cwe\u2019re awesome!\u201d\u00a0for this:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:list {\"ordered\":true,\"type\":\"A\"} --><\/p>\n<ol type=\"A\">\n<li>It\u2019s not true, and we have a weird thing where we believe you should be honest in your sales copy.<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s <em>power <\/em>in being honest, and in showing readers the journey that has gotten you to where you are.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Our CEO Ramit\u00a0Sethi\u00a0didn\u2019t just wake up one morning and say, \u201cI think I\u2019ll go write a killer sales page today.\u201d He\u00a0(and the rest of us)\u00a0had to <em>get <\/em>good at writing sales pages through a ton of trial and error, messy mistakes, and massive headaches.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>But the thing is: that\u2019s part of what makes this copy credible. When we\u2019re honest about the journey that it took to get us to where we are now, offering this course, we build trust with our audience.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Not only that: we make clear that <em>all<\/em>\u00a0of that \u2014\u00a0the bad rip-offs of other people\u2019s sales pages, the spending three\u00a0days on an intro just to delete it and start over again \u2014\u00a0that\u2019s in the past now.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This is a textbook example of \u201cpainting the dream.\u201d At the same time that we\u2019re showing readers what our\u00a0writing process is like now, we\u2019re showing them what their writing process <em>could be like<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:image --><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/growthlab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Screen-Shot-2018-04-17-at-11.36.03-AM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2018 04 17 at 11.36.03 AM\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><!-- \/wp:image --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Our readers are in the \u201cbefore\u201d and they want to know how to get to the \u201cafter\u201d \u2014\u00a0and they\u2019re ready for us to tell them how to do it \u2026 which is exactly what we do next.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-3-offer-3\">3. These are <em>actual<\/em>\u00a0pain points that students told us about as we were validating our idea. Call to action<\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>One of the oldest pieces of writing advice says to \u201ctell them what you\u2019re going to tell them, then tell them, then tell them what you told them.\u201d That\u2019s what we do at the conclusion of the <em>Behind the Sales Page <\/em>sales page: it\u2019s a long page, so we want to bring everything we\u2019ve told readers together.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>But it goes deeper than that. We don\u2019t just want readers to remember <em>why <\/em>they want to learn how to write a sales page. We want to make them feel, as deeply as they can. Keep your focus there \u2014\u00a0on the customer, and the difference you want to make for them. The rest will follow \u2014\u00a0with a few drafts and revisions, of course.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Learning to write a great sales page is like learning to dance. Eventually, they become so deeply ingrained in your body, they become second nature. Then you start to choreograph, and improvise, and make the moves your own.
